Dorin Construction, one of the region’s leading construction companies, has strengthened its board of directors, as the company prepares for the future.
Alastair Graham, 47-years-old, joined Dorin Construction two years ago as Commercial Manger and his recent appointment to Commercial Director will see him form part of the company’s new dynamic management team.
His appointment to the board has been made following Dorin Holdings restructuring last year, leading to a change in direction for the company, which undertakes projects ranging from £70,000 up to £7million.
According Dorin Holdings Managing Director, Ken Brown, Alastair’s appointment is part of the Group’s strategy to continue to grow the business, and position it as a leading contractor in the North East, undertaking work in a wide variety of sectors such as social housing, offices, care homes, education and industrial.
He said: “We are delighted to have been able to make this key appointment to the board from our internal staff and it is well deserved. With his enthusiasm, common sense approach to business and commercial experience, Alastair is a valuable addition and will assist in our growth strategy.”
Alastair from Carlisle was educated at Newcastle Polytechnic (now Northumbria University) and started his career as a Quantity Surveyor at
Sellafield Nuclear Power Station. He is a Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
He said of his board appointment: “This is an important period with a refreshed management team and an aim to grow the company. By joining the board I hope to be able to influence the direction the Company is moving in.”
On a daily basis, Alastair manages the Quantity Surveying team for Dorin Construction, works closely with clients and consultants to achieve early and smooth commencement of projects on site and ensures that projects are delivered within budget.
He added: “I’m keen to continue my relationship with our clients and promote good communications between the commercial department, clients and consultants. I’m also looking forward to the new challenge of being part of the board and being part of the company’s future success.”
Dorin Construction is recognised as one of the region’s leaders in the provision of construction services employing 150 with an annual turnover of £20m. It is aiming to double the group turnover in the next five years and will be looking for opportunities to grow the business further in the coming years.
