We are now in a strong position to grow the business across all our companies, our construction management team is strong, our build quality has improved and our levels of negotiated work are increasing.
There is no doubt that the construction marketplace has changed and we the directors would like to set out for all staff the aims and targets of the Dorin Group for the next five years. It is our aim to see significant growth in all of our businesses, in order to achieve the long term turnover targets set out below:
Dorin Construction
Current Turnover - £18 million, Five Year Target - £30 million
Gillwood Mast
Current Turnover - £4 million, Five Year Target - £8 million
Garnett Roofing
Current Turnover - £800k, Five Year Target - £2 million
D&K
Current Turnover - £1 million, Five Year Target - £2.5 million
The targets set out above are readily achievable given the strong foundations we have in place, however, we need to recognise the challenges we face and the actions we need to take to reach these targets.
Our main method of procurement has historically been open tendering, however, with more and more local authority work being packaged into framework agreements the volume of quality tendering opportunities has fallen, whilst we will still focus on tendering it is unlikely that this method of winning work will provide the levels of turnover required to service our overhead or grow the business.
Instead we must look to negotiated work and build lasting relationships with key clients, we are already seeing the benefits of this method of procurement through our excellent relationships with both Milecastle and Cheviot Housing Associations and the schemes we are working on with them. Indeed we have one Milecastle scheme to commence before Christmas and another with Cheviot which should start in the New Year. We are also working with a number of other key clients most notably in the Care Home marketplace and we expect these clients to start working with us early in the New Year.
The final area for growth will be through development opportunities, we have been working very hard on these over the last twelve months and we are pleased to report that two schemes should be commencing in the New Year. These are Zenith Business Village and an apartment scheme in Seaton Burn. These developments will provide additional turnover across all our businesses and our long term aim is to do three or four per annum.
As you can see from the work outlined above we have a strong pipeline of schemes to commence. The bonus of the negotiated works is that it enables us to introduce Gilwood Mast and Garnett into the schemes, this benefits them and also the Group as a whole. We should not underestimate the benefit of having our sister companies, this is a unique selling point in our marketplace, we have the ability to deliver complete construction solutions and we should not be afraid to shout about it.
We the directors hope that all our staff will understand and share our enthusiasm for the future, we hope that you can recognise the benefits in the actions we have taken and the focus we have placed on negotiated and development works. We would again like to thank all of you for your continuing efforts, they are much appreciated.
